DEVELOPING AUTONOMOUS LEARNING SKILLS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNERS
In the context of middle school education, fostering autonomous learning skills among foreign language learners is a vital aspect of modern pedagogy. This study explores strategies and methodologies that empower students to take responsibility for their language acquisition, focusing on self-regulated learning, critical thinking, and effective use of technology. By integrating approaches such as project-based learning, task-based activities, and gamified language platforms, educators can create environments that enhance motivation and independence. The role of metacognitive skills, such as goal setting, time management, and self-assessment, is also emphasized to guide learners in developing personalized strategies for improving listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of psychological factors like motivation and confidence, alongside the practical application of digital tools, peer collaboration, and reflective practices. These elements collectively contribute to equipping middle school learners with the competencies necessary to become lifelong autonomous language learners.
