The Ethics of AI: Language, Literature and Art
Abstract With the emergence of AI in creative domains like language, literature and art, comes the ethical debate that questions our comprehension of authorship, originality and human creativity. This paper addresses the ethics of AI-generated works in these domains, such as intellectual property, the risk of bias in algorithmic output and the influence of AI on cultural narratives. We discuss how AI is transforming the very concept of artistic and literary creation, whether machines can be considered creative agents and what responsibility human creators and developers have in the ethical use of AI. We also comment on how AI will affect future artistic and literary production, the author's rights, to the extent of artistic freedom and whether AI tends to preserve harmful stereotypes and misinformation. AI thus has brought along with itself extremely intense ethical debates surrounding these creative fields of languages, literatures and art, challenging our thoughts of authorship, originality and human creativities. The paper discusses all aspects of ethics involved by these AI-generated works in respective domains, such as IP-related issues, the tendency to bias in algorithmic output and the role played by AI in shaping cultural narratives. Keywords: AI, Ethics, Language, Literature and Art, Authorship.
