DiCoS-LA. Discourse, Communication, and Society Language Analyser. Manual and software
This manual provides a comprehensive guide to DiCoS-LA (Discourse, Communication and Society Language Analyser), a web-based application designed for the linguistic processing and analysis of written texts. Originally developed by the linguistic research team Discourse, Communication and Society (DiCoS) at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), DiCoS-LA is tailored to support both researchers and general users interested in corpus-based exploration. The manual explains all features and functionalities of the platform, including corpus uploading, keyword-in-context (KWIC) analysis, full-text viewing, advanced filtering, and statistical tools such as collocations, word lists, and n-grams. It also describes the technical architecture (Python, Django, ElasticSearch, React) and provides step-by-step instructions for use, with annotated screenshots of the interface. DiCoS-LA offers an intuitive and efficient environment for textual analysis and is especially suitable for academic projects involving large-scale corpora and linguistic annotation.
