The Illusion of Gold: A Structural Critique of Gold's Perceived Value in the Modern Era
This paper critically analyzes the modern perception of gold as a universally valuable resource. Despite its limited practical utility and declining necessity in technological and medical applications, gold continues to be hoarded by institutions and individuals as a symbol of wealth and stability. The paper argues that this value is largely illusory, sustained by historical inertia and speculative markets. By exposing this illusion, the paper calls for a redistribution of gold resources to sectors that require them for essential functions, challenging the dominant economic narrative surrounding gold.
