Average Normalized Precipitable Water Indexes values and monsoon movement characteristics in China
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data from a total of 1058 stations densely distributed in China were used to obtain Zenith Tropospheric Delays (ZTD). Combined with ERA5 meteorological data, Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV) grid products were retrieved during the period 2016 to 2020 for monsoon analysis. Subsequently, the Normalized Precipitable Water Indexes (NPWI) were constructed based on temporal variations in PWV to describe the monsoon movement characteristics. Then this dataset was generated, which contains the coordinates, average NPWI values, average monsoon onset and retreat dates with their inter-annual standard deviations, and monsoon duration time at all grid points in China.
