An Analysis of the Economic Development of Karnataka: Sectoral Growth, Policy Impacts, and Future Prospects
Abstract Karnataka has become one of India’s major states because its economic situation has greatly improved in recent years. The work looks into how the country’s economic development unfolds through viewing sectoral progress, policy changes and expectations for the future. Data analysis highlights that Karnataka performed well, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) increasing by 10.2% in FY 2023-24 and going beyond the national average growth of 8.2%. Agriculture, Information Technology (IT) and manufacturing have all been important in the growth of the economy. Being the main area of IT in the state, Bengaluru has turned Karnataka into a world-famous center for technology. Productivity in farming has gone up because of schemes like Krishi Bhagya and manufacturing has grown by investing in cement and electronics. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and new infrastructure projects have made a big difference in India’s economic growth. Even so, some regions are still behind with slower development in the north which remains an ongoing challenge. Its focus on inclusive growth is reflected by spending more than ₹89,000 crores on welfare schemes such as Gruha Lakshmi and Anna Bhagya. In the near future, Karnataka is working on focused policies and investments to solve these inequalities, building a strong and fair economic growth.
