THE INFLUENCE OF EXTERNAL FORCES ON THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF IRAQ IN 1991-2003
This article examines the economic transformations in Iraq during the interwar period 1991-2003, as well as the influence of external players on the development of the country. The effect of the oil embargo and UN sanctions imposed in 1990, as well as the military actions of the United States and allies during this period, is analyzed. The degree of support of the Russian Federation for Iraq, as a partner state, has been determined since the Soviet era. In their conclusions, the authors assess the impact of Western military operations, UN sanctions, and the American strategy towards Iraq and Saddam Hussein's regime at the turn of the century
