Assessment criteria for temporal response of stereo digital image correlation algorithms.
Abstract: This paper aims to develop an assessment criteria for evaluating stereo digital image correlation (stereo-DIC) algorithms in capturing the temporal response of a panel subjected to fluid structure interactions in a hypersonic flow. To this end, simultaneous measurements were carried out on an impulsively excited panel using stereo-DIC and laser profilometer. Two open-source codes - Sandia DICe and DuoDIc, were used to compute the out-of-plane displacement of an oscillating panel. The results were compared against direct measurements from a laser profilometer. Analysis of spatial and temporal measurements of displacement revealed that both DuoDIC and Sandia DICe yielded accurate results within 5% error compared to the laser scanner measurements.
