The Transformation of Higher Education in India under NEP 2020: Identifying Factors through Principle Component Analysis
Abstract: The National Education Policy 2020 was implemented by the Indian Union Cabinet on 29 July 2020. The policy is an all-encompassing structure for formal education in India, from primary school through university, and for vocational education in urban and rural areas. NEP-2020 has been repurposed as the base for this transformation, which might aid in developing a new educational system in the nation and improving those economic and social indices. This research aims to identify the factors that may be considered important in the successful and speedy implementation of NEP 2020 and in the study 300 faculty members from across the higher education institutions voluntarily participated. Using PCA it was found that out of 25 sub-factors that may affect the efficient implementation of NEP 2020 in higher educational institutions, sub-factors such as effective teaching, outdoor seating in the institution, fair selection/promotion and secure compensation scheme in case of loss, essentially impact the implementation of NEP 2020. Education Institutions are critical to the implementation of NEP-2020 with their readiness for changes and challenges in regulator frameworks.
