Cardiocondyla persiana Seifert, 2003 (Figure 21) Cardiocondyla persiana Seifert, 2003, p. 236, fig. 11 (w.q.) Iran. Palaearctic. Diagnosis Worker. Cephalic dorsum usually bicoloured with area back to antennal socket dirty yellow, remaining surface dark brown; mesosoma dirty yellow-brown to brown; waist, gaster, and hind- and mid femora black-brown; eye slightly small, with microsetae; promesonotum and propodeum profiles convex; metanotal groove impressed; propodeal spines slightly short and acute with axis profile deviating from mesosomal longitudinal axis by about 48°; petiolar node slightly broader than long and with distinct peduncle; petiolar node feebly steep anteriorly and strongly steep posteriorly; foveolae on vertex more densely packed. For detailed diagnosis see (Seifert 2003, 2023). Material examined Three sites: 4; 9; 25. Geographic range. This species was originally described from Iran and has a geographic distribution from Georgia east to central Iran (Seifert 2023); it is also reported from Israel (Seifert 2003). Ecology and biology. This species was found foraging under a tree in a low-rainfall forest in Iran (Pashaei Rad et al. 2018).
