Unraveling the Complications of Myocardial Infarction: A Multidimensional Approach
Myocardial infarction (MI), or myocardial infarction, is still the most frequent cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It occurs due to an acute coronary occlusion of blood flow, usually thrombus over an atherosclerotic plaque, with resulting ischemic damage and cardiac muscle necrosis. Though early identification, reperfusion therapy, and medication treatment have all notably enhanced survival during an MI, many patients endure serious and sometimes fatal complications post-MI. They vary in type among mechanical, electrical, inflammatory, thromboembolic, and systemic. They may all be manifested acutely or delayed, thus the need for complete surveillance. This article presents an integrated and complete overview of the most significant complications of MI according to pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic techniques, therapeutic options, prognosis, gender differences, and areas of future investigation
