Debris flows along the Fengtai-Shacheng Railway (FSR) during the '7.29' rainfall event in 2023

The Fengsha Railway (FSR), which connects Fengtai District in Beijing to Shacheng Town in Huailai County, Hebei, is located in the southwestern part of Beijing. It serves as the second route to Shacheng and Zhangjiakou in northwestern Hebei, following the Jingbao Railway, and was primarily constructed as a major channel for the transportation of coal from Shanxi. It spans Fengtai District and Mentougou District of Beijing, as well as Huailai County in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. The FSR has a total length of 105 kilometers, consisting of two tracks: an upward track and a downward track . The section of the line from K20 to K74 sustained severe damage as a result of the heavy rainfall on July 29, 2023. Statistics indicate that 199 debris flow events occurred along the Fengsha Railway during the rainfall on July 29, damaging key areas such as railway stations, roadbeds, bridges, and tunnels, significantly impacting railway operational safety. This data includes a susceptibility assessment of debris flows along 341 catchments on the Fengsha Railway (FSR)
