Discrete Collapse Steps in Relativistic Jets
This paper applies the Great Universal Recycle (GUR) collapse‐memory framework to the record‐breaking gamma-ray burst GRB 221009A, showing that its “structured” relativistic jet—with a shallow core and tapered wings—naturally maps onto GUR’s discrete plateau–riser collapse steps. By drawing analogies between a jet’s core–wing energy stratification and successive phase-step collapse thresholds, we suggest that abrupt changes in afterglow decay slope, potential MeV annihilation lines, and rapid polarization kinks may all arise from unity‐ratio mass–memory gates. We outline observational diagnostics (time-resolved polarimetry, γ-ray spectroscopy, VLBI imaging) and propose that future high-cadence follow-up of extreme bursts could decisively test the stair-step collapse hypothesis in high-energy astrophysics.
