TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE LISTENING THROUGH GAMES AND PLAY IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
This paper explores the effectiveness of using games and play as pedagogical tools for enhancing listening skills in foreign language instruction among primary school students. Recognizing the unique cognitive and emotional needs of young learners, the study emphasizes that engaging activities can significantly improve students' motivation, participation, and retention of language concepts. The research outlines various game-based strategies, including role- playing, interactive listening games, and storytelling, which create a dynamic learning environment. These methods not only facilitate active listening but also promote social interaction and collaboration among peers. By incorporating elements of fun and competition, educators can foster a positive attitude towards language learning, making it a more enjoyable experience.
