Empirical Synchronisation in the Human Fovea: A Possest–PQF Genealogical and Mathematical Reframing
We reframe recent evidence for foveal synchronisation (Bucci et al., Nat. Neurosci., 2025) within the Possest–PQF formalism, which models perception as filtration of intensity on an accessibility membrane \( \mathfrak{D} \). We show that near-uniform arrival times \( T = L/v \) arise from a recursive operator \( \delta^\* \) acting on conduction capacity, yielding a dispersion-minimising profile under a broad class of resource costs. A variational derivation establishes the scaling law \( d^\*(\gamma) \propto L(\gamma)^{2/(1+2\eta)} \), explaining why longer intraretinal axons acquire larger diameters and higher speeds while difference is preserved topologically. We provide an operational characterisation of \emph{Recursio Intensitatis} and propose three falsification experiments, including a phase-laminated refren test (closed-loop EEG–fMRI) and a persistent-homology probe of event patterns. This account unifies a philosophical lineage (Fechner–Ruyer–Deleuze) with neurobiological data, replacing exogenous-time postulates with accessibility dynamics. Code and notebooks reproduce the contraction of \( \mathrm{Var}(T) \) under \( (\delta^\*)^k \) and the emergence of sector-specific synchrony. fovea; retinal ganglion cell; conduction velocity; accessibility membrane; Possest–PQF; Recursio Intensitatis; Laplace trajectory field; phase-lamination.
