This research paper is written to examine the works of Amarar Kalaithudhu Nee. Mariaseviyar Adis, the founder and director of Thirumarai Kalamandram, who served in various capacities in the field of art and literature in Sri Lanka for more than half a century. Although he was a versatile artist, everyone looks at him as a stage personality. His stage personality formed the foundation of all his works. He has contributed to the theatrical tradition of Thirumadas in Eelam for more than fifty years. His works include writing scripts for them, organizing them, establishing a structured structure for them, and creating various examinations. In addition, he created the genre of ‘wordless drama’ in the war situation in Sri Lanka and led efforts for peace. Apart from these, he has written and directed many other literary plays, mystery plays, historical plays, and dance plays. Above all, he has created the art institution Thirumaraik Kalamandram and has also performed a great deal of theatre work. He has created a large and powerful group of artists and has worked both within and outside the country. No one has studied his theatre work and personality traits much so far. Since he was a Catholic priest and since he staged mostly Christian plays in the early days, there is a tendency to view his theatre work with a religious bias and not to study it. Taking these reasons as the research question, this article attempts to identify the personality traits of Mariaseviyar Adigal, a playwright, teacher, producer, who founded a theatre institution and led it for more than 50 years. Since this study is carried out with the expressions of the performances, their features and related expressions of opinion, this study is carried out through a combination of various research methodologies, namely, synthesis and description, historical research methodology, and analytical methodology.
