The Advantages of Participating in BASE4NFDI Projects – Spotlight on PID4NFDI
This presentation explores the benefits of engaging in the BASE4NFDI initiative, explicitly focusing on the PID4NFDI project. Delivered during the KonsortSWD Meeting in November 2024, it highlights how Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) are pivotal in addressing challenges such as ambiguous data citations, loss of reproducibility, and difficulties in data reuse and retrieval. The presentation outlines contributions from KonsortSWD TA5-M1 to PID4NFDI, including inputs to working groups, service proposals, and real-world use case development. Key advantages for participants include collaborative opportunities, enhanced adoption of metadata standards, and access to survey insights, which inform practices and policy development. Additionally, the session emphasizes the significance of leveraging interdisciplinary synergies within the NFDI framework to tackle complex challenges. The presentation concludes by advocating for a unified NFDI gateway, harmonized PID policies, and centralized resources to streamline PID management, ensuring enhanced interoperability and discoverability across research disciplines.
