We sorted out journals on gender and higher education from Tylor and Francis, Eric education, Science direct, and Google scholar. We reviewed 150 research articles, using the cited database software till reaching the point of saturation. Findings The results revealed that society is male dominant structure and hostile to women. Furthermore, taken-for-granted gender assumptions and beliefs in higher education institutions operate to make women conform to structures of disadvantage and experience repressive gender relations.
