THE IMPACT OF MATERNAL HEALTH ON CHILD'S HEALTH OUTCOMES

This systematic review aims to investigate the relationship between a child’s health during the first five years of life and that of the mother. The foundation for future health and well-being is laid during the critical developmental stage of the first five years of life, during which mothers provide the majority of the emotional and physical sustenance. As our primary goal, we collected published data from the first five years of life regarding the relationships between maternal health exposures (mental, physical, and HRQoL) and child health outcomes (physical, mental, HRQoL, and Health Service Use (HSU)/cost). As a secondary goal, we examined the differences between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged populations in the aforementioned correlations. The search was limited to studies that collected data and published between 2010 and 2022. Only nations with comparable health systems to Australia were considered in the systematic study. We looked through the MEDLINE, CINAHL, APA PsycINFO, GLOBAL HEALTH, and EMBASE databases. The included studies’ quality was assessed using the Effective Public Health Practice Project’s (EPHPP) tool.
