Design and Construction of a Mobile Laser Device with Remote Adjustment Capability for Patient Positioning in CT Scanners
This article presents the design and construction of a mobile laser device with remote adjustment capability for patient positioning in computed tomography (CT) scanning. Accurate patient positioning is crucial for obtaining clear CT images, reducing misalignment errors, and specifically minimizing the need for repeat scans to limit radiation exposure. Traditional methods rely on the visual judgment of radiography experts and manual adjustments, which can be prone to errors. To address these limitations, we have designed and built a mobile laser device that projects targeted laser lines onto the patient's body, ensuring precise alignment with the CT scanner gates. This device features remote adjustment capabilities, allowing medical staff to control the physical positioning of patients from a distance. The system consists of laser modules, cameras for image capture, and software for control and display, ensuring that the projected laser lines are detectable regardless of the patient's clothing. The remote design facilitates the use of this device in various clinical settings, reduces patient discomfort, and guarantees precise and repeatable positioning throughout the treatment process. The goal of this innovative device is to improve image quality, streamline workflow, reduce radiation exposure, and enhance patient comfort in CT procedures.
