Impact of Global Pandemic on Handloom Weavers' in Bangladesh: Economic Effects and Adaptive Strategies
This study investigates the impact of the global pandemic on handloom weavers in Bangladesh, examining demographic profiles, economic effects, and adaptive strategies. Data from 301 respondents were analyzed using SPSS and PLS-SEM to assess reliability, validity, and structural relationships. Findings reveal a predominantly male, young workforce with moderate experience and low incomes, highlighting vulnerability to economic disruptions. Income level and employment status significantly influence pandemic impacts, underscoring the role of stable employment and income in resilience. Access to resources and market dynamics showed indirect effects through adaptive strategies, emphasizing their importance in mitigating economic shocks. Policy implications include enhancing financial stability, improving employment conditions, and fostering adaptive capacity through targeted interventions. The study contributes insights into handloom weavers' socio-economic resilience, suggesting strategies to support the sector's recovery and sustainability amidst global crises. Future research should explore long-term impacts and additional resilience factors to inform comprehensive policy responses.
