A Study on Work-Life Balance of Private College Professors with Special Reference to Coimbatore City
Work-life balance (WLB) is a crucial aspect of an individual's overall well-being, particularly for professionals indemanding fields such as academia. It refers to the ability to effectively manage and allocate time between professional and personal responsibilities without experiencing excessive stress or burnout. For college professors, achieving a healthy worklife balance is often challenging due to the nature of their profession, which requires them to juggle multiple roles, including teaching, research, mentoring students, administrative duties, and participation in institutional activities. In the evolving landscape of higher education, the expectations placed on professors have increased significantly. The pressure to publish research papers, meet academic deadlines, engage in continuous learning, and fulfill institutional commitments often leads to extended working hours, reduced personal time, and heightened stress levels. These challenges can negatively impact their mental and physical health, job satisfaction, and overall quality of life. Coimbatore, a major educational hub in Tamil Nadu, is home to numerous colleges and universities, attracting a diverse pool of educators.
