Chemical Burn of the Oral Mucosa Caused by Raw Garlic: A Case Report:-
Garlic (Allium sativum), a perennial plant belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family, has been extensively utilized for its medicinal properties for over 5,000 years. Historically, it has been employed as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and cardio-protective agent across various traditional medical systems, including Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Greco-Arab medicine [1]. The bioactive effects of garlic are primarily attributed to its sulfur-containing compounds, particularly allicin, ajoene, diallyl sulfide, and S-allyl cysteine, which exert a range of pharmacological actions [2].
