Rural Community Empowerment Model through the Batik Entrepreneurship Approach
The empowerment of rural communities is essential for socio-economic development, particularly for marginalized groups such as the B40 community and single mothers. This study explored the effectiveness of a rural community empowerment model through batik entrepreneurship, focusing on skill development, business acumen, and economic sustainability. Using Social Empowerment Theory and Entrepreneurship Theory as its framework, the study employed a quantitative approach with pre-test and post-test evaluations among 100 participants from rural districts in Kedah. Findings indicated a significant improvement in participants' skills across batikmaking techniques, sewing, and marketing, demonstrating the impact of structured entrepreneurial training. The results also highlighted the importance of networking, financial literacy, and digital marketing in ensuring business sustainability. The study concluded that batik entrepreneurship is a viable tool for economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and community resilience. It also recommended continuous mentorship, financial support, and digital integration to enhance the longterm success of rural entrepreneurs.
