Prospects and Problems of Tourism Development in India
Abstract: India, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and historical landmarks, has significant potential to become a leading global tourism destination. The tourism sector plays a crucial role in India's economy by contributing to GDP, creating employment opportunities, and fostering regional development. However, the industry faces numerous challenges, such as inadequate infrastructure, environmental degradation, lack of skilled workforce, and safety concerns, which hinder its growth. This paper explores the prospects of India’s tourism industry, focusing on emerging trends like eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and medical tourism. Additionally, it examines the barriers to development and suggests strategies to promote sustainable and inclusive growth in the sector, ensuring long-term benefits for the economy and society.
