Microcontroller-Based Voice and Gesture Home Automation for Smart Living

This paper presents a Microcontroller-Based Voice and Gesture Home Automation System that enables users to control electrical appliances using Bluetooth-based voice and gesture commands. The system is designed to assist individuals, particularly the elderly and disabled, who may have difficulty operating conventional electrical switches. The proposed system integrates an Arduino Uno microcontroller, a Bluetooth module, and a relay driver circuit to control multiple household appliances such as lights, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. Users interact with the system via an Android application, which provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for sending voice commands. The Bluetooth module receives input from the Android device and transmits it to the microcontroller, which processes the command and controls the corresponding appliance. The system uses relay switching to turn appliances ON and OFF based on received instructions. This home automation system enhances convenience and accessibility by providing a hands-free and intuitive control mechanism. The power supply unit includes a step-down transformer, bridge rectifier, capacitive filter, and voltage regulator to ensure smooth operation. The system's low-cost design, ease of implementation, and user-friendly interface make it a viable solution for smart home applications in residential and industrial settings.
