Bridging inequalities- A journey from exclusion to empowerment through Social Justice and inclusion of marginalized groups especially third genders

Abstract: This research paper explores the theoretical and practical dimensions of social justice in India, with particular focus on the inclusion of marginalized communities such as Dalits, Adivasis, religious minorities, women, and persons with disabilities. It critically examines the evolution of constitutional provisions, legislative measures, affirmative action policies, and grassroots movements aimed at bridging systemic inequities. Regardless of legal frameworks and welfare schemes, socio-economic disparities persist. This article further analyzes structural barriers, institutional failures, and proposes an approach to achieve genuine inclusivity and equitable development. This research article explores the trace of social justice in India with particular focus on the third gender or commonly known as transgender community. Historically referred to the bounds of society, transgender persons have long faced legal invisibility, social banishment, and economic marginalization. The paper analyses the evolution of legal recognition, constitutional protections, policy interventions, and judicial pronouncements that have contributed to the empowerment of this community. Despite these developments, systemic exclusion continues in areas like education, healthcare, employment, and civil rights. The article advocates a holistic approach towards substantive equality, emphasizing legal reform, sensitization, and inclusiveness of this community in mainstream. Through real-life case studies and legal analysis, it argues for an integrated approach to empowerment rooted in rights, recognition, and redistributive justice.
