Quality Aspects of Ring Spun Tencel/Polyester and Tencel/Cotton Ply-Twisted Yarns
The paper presents the results of an experimental study on the quality aspects of tencel-polyester andtencel-cotton ply-twisted yarns. Three distinct fibre-mixes of tencel-polyester and tencel-cotton blendedring-spun ply-twisted yarns with varying single and ply - twists were analyzed for their physicalproperties. It was found that tencel- polyester ply - twisted yarn exhibits superior strength andextensibility compared to tencel-cotton ply-twisted yarn. Achieving higher strength and extensibilitynecessitates a low singles’ yarn twist factor and a high doubling-ratio. Comparable to tencel-cotton ply- twisted yarns, tencel-polyester yarns exhibit greater uniformity; however, the degree of uniformitydiminishes as the singles’ yarn twist factor increases. The results also showed that tencel- polyester ply-twisted yarn have less hairiness and lower rigidity, the latter increases with an increasing doubling-ratio
