ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR COMPENSATORY COMPETENCE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Traditional assessment methods often fail to capture the diverse skills of middle school students, particularly their ability to adapt and problem-solve—key aspects of compensatory competence. This article explores how alternative assessment methods, such as portfolios, performance tasks, and self-assessments, provide a more authentic evaluation of student abilities. These methods foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, offering a holistic approach to education. By adopting alternative assessments, educators can better support students’ academic growth and real-world readiness.
