INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW ON MOTOR PROTOCOLS AND SKILL ASSESSMENT IN TYPICALLY DEVELOPING CHILDREN
The assessment of motor skills is an important tool for monitoring child development, identifying delays and guiding educational interventions. This integrative literature review sought to identify protocols and motor skills used in the assessment of children with typical development in different cultural contexts. 887 articles were found in the Scielo, Scopus and Pubmed databases, of which 68 were selected after inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Test for Gross Motor Development Second Edition was the most used instrument, present in 51.45% of the articles, followed by the Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2, Körperkoordenationstest für Kinder and Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency -2. All the articles included at least one stabilizing, locomotor or manipulative skill. In conclusion, the study identified the Test of Gross Motor Development - Second Edition (TGMD-2) as the most referenced protocol for assessing fundamental motor skills in healthy children, demonstrating its validity, reliability and wide acceptance in the scientific literature. In addition, the results reinforce the importance of considering contextual and methodological specificities when choosing protocols, recommending the use of new technologies and multicultural approaches in future research.
