Integrating Cultural Diversity: An Islamic Framework for Multicultural Societies
This study explores the integration of cultural diversity through a structured Islamic framework, aiming to contribute to contemporary discourse on social cohesion in multicultural societies. Drawing on a mixed-methods approach—comprising an in-depth literature review, qualitative content analysis, and expert consultation—the research identifies key Islamic principles that promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and inclusive community building. The study highlights foundational concepts such as Shura (consultative governance), Ta’aruf (mutual understanding), and interfaith dialogue as vital elements in navigating cultural pluralism. These principles are not only historically embedded in Islamic tradition but also offer practical relevance for modern policy and community initiatives. The proposed framework emphasizes that integration does not require cultural homogenization; rather, it advocates for unity through diversity, anchored in shared ethical and civic values. By aligning classical Islamic teachings with contemporary multicultural challenges, the paper provides actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and community leaders striving to foster social integration without compromising cultural identity. Ultimately, the study argues that Islamic perspectives offer a valuable, underutilized resource for building cohesive societies amidst global diversity.
