COMPARISON OF HEMATOLOGICAL AND AUTOIMMUNE STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH GRAVES DISEASE AND AUTOIMMUNE THYROIDITIS
45 patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) aged 25 to 76 years and 43 patients with Graves' disease (GD) aged 19 to 64 years were examined. The statistically significant decrease in serum iron and ferritin levels observed in both groups of patients compared to the control group. İt was more pronounced in the group of patients with AIT compared to the group of patients with GD (p <0.05). Significant depletion of iron stores (ferritin) is due to the fact that the development of anemia is preceded by “latent iron deficiency” the indicator of which is ferritin. The more pronounced hematological and autoimmune disorders detected in patients with AIT against the background of less pronounced hormonal changes emphasize the connection between the immune system and anemia.
