D3.5 GreenSCENT Air Quality App

This document serves as an exploration of the comprehensive design process employed for the creation of the educational air quality app designed and developed by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Aligned with the principles of human-centred design, our approach is deeply rooted in the experiences and feedback gathered from potential users. This user-centric philosophy has steered our decision-making throughout the product design journey. The application is scheduled for a beta version public release on 31 December 2023, with some resources and iterations still in the line for the beginning of 2024. This document delves into the intricacies of our design decisions, beginning with the conceptualisation of the application, the selection of interactions defining its distinct identity, and the thoughtful storytelling that takes the user through the learning experience. Each of these elements has been shaped and refined based on valuable insights derived from our interactions with users. The different sections provide a detailed exposition on the technological underpinnings that power our e-learning app. This serves as a transparent presentation of our technical choices, showcasing the robust foundation supporting the user interface, always taking accessibility as a foundation for this.A significant portion of this document is dedicated to elucidating the product's structure. This comprehensive breakdown is essential to convey our commitment to a user-centric design approach. The e-learning app, tailored for students aged 10 to 15, is enriched with 11 lessons, skilfully incorporating gamification elements to enhance user engagement. Furthermore, certain lessons seamlessly integrate Augmented Reality, representing our dedication to introducing students to immersive technologies, thus fostering an interactive and impactful educational experience. In essence, the design decisions chronicled herein are not arbitrary but are a result of a conscientious and iterative process grounded in the valuable interactions and feedback from our user community. This approach ensures that our e-learning app is not merely a digital product but a tailored, user-friendly solution that resonates with the needs and preferences of our target audience.
