BRIDGING THE EDUCATION–EMPLOYMENT GAP: A REVIEW OF EMPLOYERS' PERCEPTIONS OF GRADUATE WORK READINESS IN UZBEKISTAN
This review paper explores employers’ perceptions of graduate work readiness in Uzbekistan, drawing on reports from international organizations and local projects (ADB, GIZ, YES). The review identifies persistent skill gaps—both technical and soft—that hinder effective school-to-work transitions. Employers emphasize practical training, modernized curricula, and stronger partnerships with educational institutions to better align graduate competencies with market demands. The analysis reveals that while theoretical knowledge is often sufficient, practical experience and adaptable skills remain underdeveloped. Initiatives such as TexVET by GIZ and policy recommendations by the World Bank aim to reform vocational education, enhance employability, and ensure sustainable employment outcomes. This review offers insights for policymakers, educational leaders, and industry stakeholders seeking to bridge the education–employment gap and improve work readiness among new graduates.
