Integrating Dennett's Compatibilism with a Quantum Model of Consciousness: New Perspectives on Free Will
The problem of free will remains one of the most complex issues in philosophy and neuroscience. Are our decisions the product of deterministic processes, or do we possess genuine freedom of choice? Compatibilism, particularly as articulated by Daniel Dennett, offers a resolution to this paradox, asserting that free will is compatible with determinism through the sophisticated processing of information in the brain. Meanwhile, modern quantum mechanics models, specifically the concept of the wave function of consciousness, open new horizons for understanding free will by introducing elements of quantum indeterminacy and entanglement. This article explores how the quantum impulse of consciousness can be integrated with Dennett’s compatibilism, proposing a novel paradigm for analyzing free will.
