CARG: CODECO AI Resilience and Governance Toolkit - White Paper

This white paper explores the CODECO CARG Toolkit, which comprises an Artificial Intelligence (AI) resilience and governance methodological framework to assess the use and impact of AI in the Kubernetes Cognitive Decentralised Edge Cloud (CODECO) framework and in selected use-cases. CARG is under development and validation within the Horizon Europe CODECO project to support AI-driven orchestration in Cloud-Edge environments. The white paper explains CARG and its core principles. Drawing on established frameworks such as the EU AI Act, OECD Principles, and UNESCO’s Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, CARG prioritizes transparency, replicability, and trustworthiness in its approach. Additionally, the white paper introduces advanced tools and processes to automate the assessment, monitoring, and improvement of AI in CODECO serving as blueprint for other similar initiatives. This white paper focuses on explaining the CODECO AI resilience and governance framework and how it is being applied in the project, as a blueprint that can be adopted by other similar projects, offering practical strategies and innovations to address the challenges and opportunities of AI resilience and governance in Cloud-Edge ecosystems.
