IT GOVERNANCE IMPLEMENTATION IN BANKING ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS KEY REQUIREMENTS AND CHALLENGES

It is the intentions of this research endeavour to determine the degree of IT governance within the Commercial Bank (Bank Audi-Najaf Branch (BA-NB)) using the four premise of the COBIT 5 framework that include; plan and implement, acquire and implement, support and deliver and monitor and evaluate. The research employed the statistical method where the research instrument was a governance index although couched in a survey questionnaire; this establishes to what extent (BA-NB) has implemented the COBIT5 dimensions available in order to understand the level of IT governance available and compared to the COBIT, an IT control technique. The overall findings of the study are as under: The implementation of information technology governance mechanisms in the Iraqi commercial banks could reduce risk of audit by the auditors and ensure information security relevant to electronic accounting systems. Finally, but more important, the research propose using a model for evaluating IT governance derived from the comprehensive control in business COBIT5 in the system of commercial banks as the IT mechanism in support of risk management in electronic accounting systems.
