Dangerous cargoes and urban mobility: Management and risks in transport in metropolitan areas

In current times, transporting cargo with dangerous products is essential for industries and people to be able to carry out their activities. Due to the potential risks that these substances present to health and the environment, the transport sector needs to follow specific standards and legislation. However, there are still gaps in security, regulatory and awareness measures, which increases the risks involved. This study aims to carry out a bibliographic review on the standards for transporting dangerous products, discuss accidents occurring in 2023 and the impact of an accident on urban mobility. Allowing to note that the transport of dangerous cargo in Brazil has strict regulation, however, it requires continuous preventive measures to minimize risks, due to the number of accidents and reinforce the need for intense inspection and improvement of safety practices. However, this work demonstrates its importance by compiling existing laws, reflecting on the number of accidents and pointing out possible practices to improve the transport of dangerous products sector.
