Baseline wood-derived graphene-containing nanomaterials synthesis parameters (D1.2)

Deliverable D1.2 is devoted to baseline wood-derived graphene-containing nanomaterials synthesis parameters - synthesis of composite graphene-carbon electrode materials from wood and its waste. For this purpose, carbon materials were prepared via thermal (temperature 400-500 °C) carbonization by Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) and then refined to achieve uniform particle size distribution. The synthesis of activated carbons for the electrode materials was developed by using iterative feedback from the analysis of structure, morphology and electrochemical properties (Task 1.3 and WP2) and optimized for highest graphene content. Adjustable parameters include temperature, time, ratio of activation agent (NaOH) and carbon material. The synthesized activated carbons were also modified with nitrogen to alter their properties in order to test them as alternative candidates for the supercapacitor electrodes. As a result, carbons were applied in supercapacitors and achieved specific capacitance more than 200 F/g. The deliverable is not available due to legitimate interests.
