Artificial Intelligence Transforming Indian Economy: Importance, Impact and Challenges
Abstract AI is increasingly important in enhancing the digital economy. It works alongside technologies such as the Internet of Things to boost company growth. In banking and finance, AI automates processes, reducing costs and errors, while enhancing customer support through chatbots. In e-commerce, it analyzes consumer behavior for better sales and fraud prevention. In safety and surveillance, AI uses video analysis and facial recognition to improve security. It also optimizes supply chains and logistics with predictive analytics, enhancing quality control and inventory management. In traditional industries like agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics in India, AI improves efficiency but faces challenges like infrastructure issues and skill gaps. In agriculture, AI tools help monitor crops using satellite imagery and drones, while in manufacturing, it enhances operations through predictive maintenance. In logistics, AI optimizes delivery and inventory management. However, workforce skill gaps and the need for policy support hinder AI adoption. AI enhances customer experiences by personalizing services and improving engagement through tools like chatbots and machine learning. It processes feedback effectively, helping businesses respond quickly to customer needs. Companies need to balance personalization with ethical practices to ensure trust when handling customer data. There are challenges in implementing AI in India, including the need for a secure digital infrastructure, addressing skill gaps, ensuring data privacy, and bridging the urban-rural digital divide. AI significantly impacts economic growth and international trade, boosting productivity and altering trade dynamics. It fosters smarter global value chain management and provides opportunities for small businesses through digital platforms. New trade rules and consistent international standards are essential for maximizing AI's benefits in global trade while addressing intellectual property and privacy concerns.
