Significance of Green Entrepreneurship for the achievement of sustainable development

Abstract: Growth and development of industry is important for the economic progress of country, but industry should not ignore their impact on the environment. But there has been persistent, extreme and rapid exploitation of natural resources to achieve economic growth. In the Present Era, to achieve sustainable development, there is an urgent need for adoption of sustainable practices both in consumption and production to obtain preservation and balance on economic, environmental and social dimensions. A Green economy cannot be injected it should be driven by entrepreneurs through innovation in management & technology. Hence, the entrepreneurs who engage in “creative destruction” and are called as change agents should shoulder the responsibility to develop innovative business practices to deal with social and environmental challenges, thus paving way for a sustainable future. A separate category of entrepreneurs, Green Entrepreneurship driven by sustainability concerns are gaining attention in the present era. This study is exploratory in nature as it offers insights into the concept of green entrepreneurship and its role in sustainable development, using all the available secondary sources. The objective of the study is to comprehend the significance of Green Entrepreneurship for sustainable development.
