ETAPELE EVALUĂRII A CUNOȘTINȚELOR, ATITUDINILOR ȘI PRACTICILOR POPULAȚIEI GENERALE PRIVIND REZISTENȚA LA ANTIMICROBIENE ÎN ȚĂRILE CU VENITURI MICI ȘI MEDII DIN EUROPA
Summary. Antimicrobial resistance is a major public health problem affecting all social classes globally. However, low- and middle-income countries are the most affected, due to the high incidence and prevalence of antimicrobial resistance and the exorbitant cost of treating cases, of course, relative to the income of the population. Studies have shown that one of the determinants of the epidemiologic indices is the low level of literacy of the population on this medical phenomenon that determines the health-related quality of life. Because there were no conclusive data on the level of knowledge of the general population in the Republic of Moldova, the national team of the multilateral transnational project „Phage treatment and wetland technology as intervention strategy to prevent dissemination of antibiotic resistance in insurface waters” (PhageLand) developed the „Questionnaire for the assessment of knowledge, attitudes and practices of the population on antimicrobial resistance in low and middle income countries in Europe”. This article describes the methodology applied to develop the questionnaire.Key words: antimicrobial resistance, public health, health-related quality of life, KAP questionnaire, low and middle income countries.
