Evaluation of the Potential of Current Trends in Distance and Digital Learning from the Perspective of Inclusive and Equitable Education in India
Abstract: In times of obscurity and lack of knowledge, education serves as a guiding light. The concept of higher education, from this perspective, has greatly influenced the universe. Education plays a significant role in shaping society. There exist three categories of education: formal, non-formal, and distance education. The world has witnessed substantial transformations, especially in terms of scientific progress and societal change. One aspect of this evolution is the growing significance of technology in our everyday lives. Education has experienced a corresponding shift in paradigm as a direct result of these developments. Consequently, the 21st century commenced with a change in attitudes towards online education. The impact on society is becoming increasingly evident, and there is now a strong emphasis on utilizing technology to disseminate knowledge. Digital learning is no longer on the periphery or supplementary, but an essential component of mainstream education. Distance and digital learning tools, as an interdisciplinary field, have emerged as one of the fastest-growing areas of education in recent years; they assist in adapting to trends and moving towards meeting the demand for inclusivity in educational formats through technological advancements and the utilization of various digital resources. Exploring current technological trends can enhance the efficacy of educational methodologies and reach out to a broader audience of learners who may not have access to traditional or formal educational formats and delivery mechanisms. This study aims to explore the possibilities presented by contemporary developments in distance and digital learning to achieve a cohesive educational environment that promotes inclusivity, equity, and a sustainable learning environment in the Indian educational scenario.
