Therapeutic Potential of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
This systematic review evaluates the therapeutic impact of GLP-1 receptor agonists in type 1 diabetes mellitus, focusing on glycemic control, insulin requirements, and weight management. Following PRISMA guidelines, the review synthesized findings from three studies published between 2018 and 2025, using the Synthory.AI service for automated extraction and analysis. Evidence suggests GLP-1 agonists offer modest improvements in HbA1c and consistent reductions in insulin doses, with favorable weight loss outcomes. However, long-term efficacy beyond 24 weeks remains uncertain, and variability in study designs limits generalizability. Future research should emphasize larger trials with standardized protocols to clarify the long-term safety and efficacy of these agents.
