Synthesis of CNMs from Maize Stem
Abstract Two different types of Carbon Nanomaterials were synthesized by pyrolyzing Maize stem using the CVD method at 6000C, 8000C and 10000C, in presence of Ni, Fe, or Co as the catalyst. The morphology of CNM varied according to the catalyst used. HRSEM images showed that in presence of Fe as catalyst initiated formation of needle like CNFs whereas Co failed to generate any specific structure. CNB synthesized from stem using Ni catalystthey show a plate having spherical holes and beads arising out of their holes. The size of the holes and beads matches as they both are approximately 50nm, thus suggesting that beads originated from the plates. The XRD pattern and the Raman spectrum confirmed the graphitic nature of the carbon
