Physical Activity Participation Levels Among LGBTQIA+ College Students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines
The study aimed to determine the relationship between LGBTQIA+ identity and physical activity participation levels among students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Utilizing a correlational quantitative research design, 88 respondents from 13 colleges within the university participated. They completed an adapted version of the Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire, which includes Strenuous, Moderate, and Mild Exercise categories. The study found a diverse range of gender identities at PUP, with varying levels of physical activity participation across these groups. Significant relationships were found between gender identity and participation levels in the Strenuous, Moderate, and Mild Exercise categories. Understanding these gender differences and developing targeted interventions can help increase physical activity participation, fostering a more inclusive learning environment in physical education for all students, regardless of gender identity.
