Touch Microclimate
Abstract: Recently, social sciences and humanities have been experiencing a multimodal turn, turning their attentionto and experimenting with more (or less) than textual materials. In this essay, we reflect on the conceptual affordancesof doing research through artistic means by focusing on a multimodal workshop session, in which we examined climatediagrams, doodled with haptic materials, and learned to see-and-touch. We posit the need for experimenting with suchinstruments to prepare a multisensorial fieldwork and sensitise the tactile experience of a microclimate before one immersesin it.
