USING SONGS OR MOVIES TO IMPROVE LISTENING SKILLS
Abstract. This article explores the use of songs and movies as effective tools for enhancing listening comprehension in second language acquisition. Drawing on theories like Stephen Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and the research of David Noonan, the paper argues that authentic language input from music and films provides learners with real-life vocabulary, pronunciation patterns, and cultural context. It outlines practical strategies such as active listening, subtitles, repetition, and shadowing to help learners integrate these mediums into their study routines. Supported by academic references and practical examples, the article concludes that incorporating songs and films makes language learning both more effective and more enjoyable.
