Reducing Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) in Canadian Long-Term Care Facilities
This paper examines the causes of HAIs in Canadian long-term care facilities, with a specific focus on Ontario long-term care facilities. It explores the epidemiology of HAIs, current limited surveillance and reporting methods, and the financial burden associated with these infections. Furthermore, the paper evaluates existing infection control practices and proposes evidence-based recommendations to mitigate HAIs. Addressing this issue is crucial for improving patient outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and enhancing the overall quality of care in long-term care facilities.
