Shopwise - An Intelligent E-Commerce Platform for Smart Shopping

Abstract Shopwise is an intelligent e-commerce platform designed to address common usability and product discovery challenges in IT retail. This project integrates a GPT-powered chatbot and a personalized recommendation system to deliver a smart shopping experience. The system was built using Next.js, React, MongoDB Atlas, and OpenAI APIs. Key features include an AI chatbot for specification-based product search, a recommendation engine based on user behavior vectors and cosine similarity, and a responsive UI designed with Tailwind CSS. Authentication is handled using NextAuth.js with secure password hashing via bcryptjs. The platform was evaluated against six SMART objectives and successfully met performance, accuracy, and user satisfaction benchmarks. This submission includes the final project paper, complete source code, and a demo video. The project was conducted as part of the Master's in Information Technology at Auckland Institute of Studies.
